Gillian Jones

My glass journey began with flameworking in 2016 making beads, followed by glass casting before I found my ideal element in glass fusing. I taught myself during the first lockdown with the aid of a timely purchased kiln and glass offcuts, books, a friends firing schedule, endless experimentation and my copious notes.

I find it enjoyable, rewarding and totally absorbing working in this medium. I have sold my glass in local art centres, exhibitions and galleries.

Man’s Best Friend: A scruffy mutt is not often celebrated in the world but here is a face of a much loved rescue dog, of no fixed parentage, called Gus. Captured forever in glass.

Peacock On Show: The design for the peacock was a progression of ideas that changed with and added to each new piece. The culmination of which is this final stylised form. I wanted to capture the pride and theatre a peacock brings to nature.
