Bruce Tremain

I am a creator relatively new to glass, having had little or no formal tuition in the medium. Having come across glass kiln casting by accident as part of my existing metal casting hobby, it continues to challenge and stimulate me.

Me too: is an experiment in pieces with the same geometry but at a different scale. To me, the piece conveys the feeling of a parent and child or an older and younger sibling.

Hibiscus Coast Topography: When casting metal, some of my favourite styles of piece are 3d topographies. Until recently this has eluded me in cast glass. While the Hibiscus Coast is not an area that I have a personal connection to, it seemed appropriate given the exhibition being hosted by the Estuary Arts Centre on the Hibiscus Coast. The piece is kiln cast in Reichenbach crystal and then had mica powder fused onto the surface to give it a sparkle and highlight the topography.

Koru: This Koru is part of my journey, creating pieces in Recycled bottle glass. The source for the glass is batch-matched 'V' bottles. A pleasant side effect of using the V bottle glass is that the pieces have a color remarkably like Pounamu.
